General information for the website: Wordpress email campaign template changes
Num. of web pages/modules: 1
Description of every page/module: We recently had a newsletter template created in Wordpress. We entered all text and images as per instructions but when we test it, the email the template appears different across various email providers, the images are missing and the images and text are all over the place.
We have received feedback from our Tracker RMS system team (the program we use to send out the email campaigns) and they have given me the following feedback:
The code provided is not email friendly as not all email applications will know what to do with style sheets defined in the header of the email. Some cannot process these at all which we can see from the test emails being sent. There are also references to mso- classes which implies this was done using some form of MSOffice tool but these are not defined in the styling either, nor will applications outside of Outlook know what they mean.
For campaign emails, it is recommended that all styling be done "in-line" within the HTML itself, never in the header. CSS3 standards should also be followed so using proprietary MSO styles will not display correctly on things like smartphones, Hotmail, GMail and other non-Outlook applications that do not use them. All applications however typically adhere to CSS3 standards.
This code will work in a browser but browsers are far more sophisticated than email applications so they will need to re-do this code with the above considerations.
Description of requirements/features: Change the template to email friendly code so our Wordpress template displays properly across a range of devices and email providers when sent.
