Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We run a huge website on woocommerce.
We have a problem with categories: Heres how it currently looks this is the hierachy:
Men's
- Clothing
- - Activewear
- - Swimwear
- - Coats & Jackets
So on and so on - Which is fine. Under some of these there will be subcategories of activewear, swimwear & coats and jackets such joggers, shorts, denim jackets.
We have been doing this by creating sub categories, which is now causing the website huge problems, we sell brand items too, so for instance:
Nike then underneath nike, separate to the main Men's category we have to then create all the sub categories, Activewear, Swimwear, Coats & Jackets
So then we have all together:
Men's
- Clothing
- - Activewear
- - Swimwear
- - Coats & Jackets
Then
The same for Nike and all the other brands sub categories we will have. We do this to enable filtering for the customer. Huge issues have been run into in the last few days, we now have over 13,000 different sub categories and that is just for Men's there are still Women's to do by the end there will be over 30,000 different categories, which isnt scalable for the website.
I have read it is possible to use attributes and tags to battle this issue so for all the Men's sub categories, Nike and all the brands will use the same.
We import our products with a datafeeder which we manually input, select the relevant categories to import to and run import.
We are looking for someone to help us with this desperately.
