Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 1 day or less
I have the website www.heritagedaily.com
I have an optimisation issue in my website code and server database. Subsequently, my hosting solution has advised to recruit a web developer.
They described the issue as:
"Average server load gets increased when there is a surge of visitors that causes the site to crash.
Within the last 24 hours there have been nearly 165 000 requests towards that website. Multiple concurrent connections towards the website can increase the average server load, because each request requires certain CPU time to complete its processing.
When the average server load is increased that affects the rest of the services on the server, which in turn can lead to the unavailability of the website.
e.g
Code:
root@serv01 [/usr/local/apache/domlogs]# wc -l heritagedaily.archnews.co.uk
164348 heritagedaily.archnews.co.uk
root@serv01 [/usr/local/apache/domlogs]# head -n 2 heritagedaily.archnews.co.uk
90.175.195.218 - - [24/Nov/2013:06:05:29 -0600] "GET /wp-content/uploads/2013/11/cha2.jpg HTTP/1.1" 200 124479 "http://paleoantropologiahoy.blogspot.com.es/search/label/12%20Comportamiento%20moderno" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; BTRS126344; GTB7.4; chromeframe/31.0.1650.57; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; Media Center PC 4.0)"
94.217.105.233 - - [24/Nov/2013:06:05:28 -0600] "GET /favicon.ico HTTP/1.1" 200 - "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:26.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/26.0"
root@serv01 [/usr/local/apache/domlogs]#
So i need a good developer to revise the website's structure, to locate the parts that require most server resources, and then optimize them to reduce the footprint of the website.
Upon completion of the work, we'd consider that developer for future tendors as primary choice. (So this can lead to more work)
