Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the website: App which tweets the locations of fly tipping.
Description of requirements/features: Wordpress Plugin, Twitter API, Google Maps API.
We have an app which tweets the locations and photograph of fly tipping in Streatham to the council in order to report it for removal and encourage greater action to solve the problem.
Tweets come in the following format:-
@lambeth_council Fly tipping [name of road] [date] [time] #CleanUpStreatham #Streatham [pic url]
Examples:-
@lambeth_council Fly tipping at Bridgewood Road 31/08/2014 07:46 #CleanUpStreatham #Streatham pic.twitter.com/FKHEYP6ZGP
@lambeth_council Fly tipping at Corner of Ellison Street and Colmer road 31/08/2014 08:04 #CleanUpStreatham #Streatham pic.twitter.com/DfPhKmnxCb
Whats Needed:-
We would like tweets from our archive of reports (around 300 archived reports) since March AND any new reports as the come in plotted on a Google Map using Marker Cluster.
Broadly the tweets need to be parsed for the street name, 'streatham, london' needs to be appended to the street name to narrow the search and eliminate duplicates, then the data can be sent to the google maps api to bring back long/lat for mapping.
Two previous efforts have resulted in a plugin that only displays 11 of 300 reports, only works for streets named avenue or road, and maps several reports to Scotland and other parts of the UK when all reports come from London, and broken in map controls (see http://www.cleanupstreatham.com/map/).
Code so far attached (twitter authentication removed), data archive also attached, tweets can also be seen here: https://twitter.com/CleanStreatham
We've had bad and costly and time consuming experiences so far, so please only reply if you can do the job, have the skills, can complete the project on-time, and understand the issues involved.
