Experience Level: Intermediate
I am building a website for a new IT home support company who need a very simple postcode checker to allow users to see if they are in the home service coverage area (South London) or not. See the attached image for how it should look.
I need a simple script that I can paste into the website (built in HTML, PHP and CSS) which will allow users to input the first part of their (British) postcode and for it to check against a list of accepted postcodes.
So it needs to work like this:
1) User enters the first half of their postcode (e.g SE12) into a simple box and press the submit button next to it.
2) It checks against a list of acceptable postcodes and if it matches then a simple message will be displayed such as 'you are within our coverage area.' If it doesn't match it needs to say something like 'sorry you are not currently within our coverage area'.
NOTES...
It needs a to limit user input to a minimum of 3 characters and a maximum number of 4 characters.
If you could style it to make it look similar to the attached image (minus the text) that would be a bonus but I can do this for myself if necessary.
I think this can be done with a simple PHP script (and not using databases?) that contains the list of postcodes, but I am not sure how to go about it.
There will be a max of 100 postcodes to check against. For example you could just use - SE8, SE9, SE10, SE11, SE12 for now and I can add the rest.
If possible I would love this to be sorted today or as soon as possible!
Thanks in advance, Jack.
