Hi All
I use a wordpress plugin which changes all external links from the blog to:
http://www.domain.com/out/1
http://www.domain.com/out/2
http://www.domain.com/out/3
Etc. etc, in sequencial order. These links are used to disguise affiliate links, however it's come to our attention that even though we've blocked /out/ in the robots.txt file the search engines are still following them.
What I'd like to do is make it so that all the external links are put through a form action using the POST function, which we know the search engines can't follow.
All the external links from the site are to become POST forms. The script accepts the POST data, builds the URL then 301 redirects. Any attempt to access it without post data (ie, search engines trying their luck) gets 302 redirected to the homepage. Google uses standard HTTP GET requests for everything, so must be done using POST.
There are also places where we'll feature the external links in the template using the /out/ paremeter (i.e banners in the header) so needs to work for these also if possible.
Any questions give me a shout.
Thanks
Paul
