Description
Experience Level: Expert
We require platform and framework advice from an experienced knowledgeable web application expert.
Specifically:
Advice on platform for a commercial web application (shared virtual host / grid computing)
Advice on pros and cons of relevant web application frameworks for the site (including GWT)
Currently there is a prototype (client-side is HTML and AJAX, server-side is PHP, mySQL and a C++ application)
The Web Application is expected to generate significant peaky server CPU loading (hence the inclination towards grid computing).
The advice required would include a summary of the pro and cons of relevant grid computing solutions (cost , ease of setup (estimated man-hours/cost). It is worth noting the C++ application links to a commercial library which may limit which platforms are viable.
Before a number of interface improvements are initiated we want to decide on the best framework.
The commercial web application should work across all major browsers and in future mobile support is desirable.
The Web Application requires frequent timely client server interaction. (as user settings and results are communicated)
Winner of this initial project will be well placed to bid for further work (such as interface improvements and platform migration) .
