Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I am a web developer and have just been awarded a new project to upgrade an existing Joomla 1.0 site to Joomla 1.5. This is for a friend of a friend. I use a windows server with windows server 2003 R2 and IIS. I have never used Joomla before and therefore need some assistance, ideally from a local developer (I am based in Wiltshire).
The site is for a sports club so the money is not great but from what I have read, the migration from 1.0 to 1.5 is fairly straight forward. In terms of components, the client wants an upgrade from Fireboard to Kunena Forum, and then has Virtuemart and Vemod News Mailer.
I therefore have two options:
Option one would be to appoint a partner in this project who has a very good working knowledge of Joomla, the above components and the migration process. I could then pass on a working copy of the existing site for the work to be done.
Option two would be to appoint a partner who could spend a full day with me, loading Joomla 1.0 on to my server along with the migration tool, taking the copy of the existing site, demonstrating how the migration works and then assisting me with the components. I would also be looking for a crash course in using the program, and could therefore be looking at a couple of days assistance.
I would also consider a combination of the two.
In terms of future work, I handle a wide range of projects from simple web design to sql server databases (eLearning is my speciality). I already partner an eCommerce company and ultimately am looking to build a small network of partners.
Please apply detailing which option (or both) would suit you, timescales for the work, and pricing by the hour, by the day and for the project - I am flexible about how this can work.
