Hi,
We have an Internet Explorer/ legacy web application which was build in HTML4, CSS and VBscript which needs work.
The old app/filepaths has been configured to work over a Windows file share. When the web application has been loaded, via VBScript it creates a ADODB connection from the browser to a MS SQL 2000 Server to retrieve database record sets and then dynamicly create html pages. The page content then is mostly created via Microsoft Web Office Components (activex module) to create an excel interface in the browser.
Currently this app only works on the Windows 2003 server where it was once installed on the administrator account, but in the past it also worked on different computers on our network where normal users where able to use it. I have narrowed this problem and have seen that the vbscript cannot access the SQL 2000 database server (access denied) from a remote computer, but i was unable to solve this by opening up permissions. Internet Explorer has configured to to sent the local username/password when authentication is needed (it may do so because it is in the Trusted intranet IE Zone), in this case to connect to the database server via vbscript.
The tasks involed in this project are the following:
1. Enable the network computers (e.g. Windows 7) to use the web application via Internet Explorer under their current logged in username automaticly and thus accessing the remote database via vbscript.
2. Update the web application to function via the local IIS webserver installed on this server (script paths need to be updated).
3. If the work which has been done is great, we would also like to extend the program a bit.
