Description
Num. of web pages/modules: 1
Description of requirements/features: Need a module that will read in full UK postall addresses from either our mysql DB or external csv file (or other?) and either update the lat lng for the full address into the db or export to csv (or other). At the moment we only have the lat lng for each post code which is restrictive. Needs to be reusable.

Ok, sorry to pester, but in terms of lat / long source, do you have a license for a commercial product, or is something like freegeoip.net going to provide good enough results for you? (Or do you want to use the Google service with associated performance and capacity caps?)
Neil S.06 Apr 2017Hello,
No worries. My thoughts were that if i can achieve 2.5k per day in line with Google API caps then that would be great as i can build up over time prioritising the <25k most important addresses. I am not familiar with alternatives and their limitations.
I will have more time to go into detail tomorrow after reviewing responses thus far. You are asking the right questions, i did post the job in a hurry so apologies for the lack of detail.
Thanks, Neil -
Hi Neil,
I'm trying to understand the scope of the job, you have an address database and the primary goal is to lookup the postcode for each address in a second database to extract the lat/long, and store this as additional information against the full address .. is this correct?
When you say it needs to be reusable, by that do you mean than when you get access to 'more' than just the lat/long, you wish to be able to use the same code to merge in the additional information?
- Do you want this as "command line tool", or should it be in the form of a website such that you could upload the addresses to the website, then have it crunch in the background and store in an associated server database?Neil S.06 Apr 2017Hi, to clarify...All i really need is a backend function that i can run at will to get lat lng from a batch of full UK addresses. The lat lng must be for the full address not just the post code. To achieve this i can set up a table with full address, and two blank fields for lat lng. I would be looking to link the function to a front end web portal so a simple button click to loop through addresses, geocoding and store lat lng. Hope this clarifies.
