Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
Setup our application ('app') to make it readily runnable on a cloud service provider.
Our numerical simulation application (written as Python Dash/Flask app in Ubuntu Linux) provides a browser GUI allowing users to setup and run large scale numerical simulations.
Currently we can readily run the app and access it through the browser on localhost or using web tunnel services such as localtunnel.me.
We look for a developper setting up our app on the cloud, and making it available via our web domain (our register is namecheap).
Cloud services we currently consider you may have to set up include esp. jelastic with e.g. massive grid, but alternatively also Azure (or less likely AWS).
It is important that the app is - as far as this is possible - set up in a way such as to benefit from the possibility of flexible charging for our app with dynamic computaitonal resource use:
Our app consumes very few resources when 'idle', which is most of the time, that is, when nobody is accessing our web service or when users are in the simulation configuration stage before launching the simulation.
The app scales up its resource use strongly when users do launch the simulations, to multiple GB RAM use and ideally multiple CPUs used in parallel by one simulation instance.
Jelastic seems to offer some flexible billing model that can be used for this, which is why so far it is our foremost candidate as cloud service. We are not yet 100% certain whether Azure (less likely AWS) may offer similar, maybe even greater, flexibility, but we would be keen to explore this, tbd.
Attached some more background on this flexible cloud resource pricing requirement of ours.
Keen to receive fixed-price offers.
