I\'m looking for someone to set-up an e-commerce website with a slight twist.
The website will need to look, function, and feel like a modern & professional on-line shop, with dynamic searches & filters (such as on dabs.com), but it doesn\'t initially need to integrate with any payment facility because, at this stage, no transactions will actually be completed through the website.
One key feature is that to before any search can begin, the user must enter their postcode (like on autotrader.co.uk) and the website must be able to collect this data, and also data about what the customer is actually searching for. Ideally the ability to export this kind of data to Excel would be required.
The website doesn\'t need to include any stock-control as such, but will need to be able to tell the customer which local branches can supply this product. Further down the line, this will need to be developed to be able to place an order and take payment for the product with the chosen location, but this isn\'t a requirement for now.
The other key requirement is the admin side. Because of the huge number of products & variations, plus data about the different retail outlets, the ability to upload data from an excel spreadsheet is really important.
There are really two routes with this project because I realise that the creative skills of the graphic design are different to the technical skills of the web design. I am happy for the same person to take on the whole thing, or I can get the graphic design part done elsewhere and this job would then be the web design & development.
As a web-design project I would be expecting whoever does the job to be able to advise on which platform to use and also why. I know there are numerous open-source e-commerce platforms available, as well as numerous paid for alternatives and modules. I am looking for input and advise in this area with the aim of achieving a modern & professional website that has the ability to achieve high page rankings on the popular search engines.
Once the initial set-up is done, there is likely to be regular on-going maintenance and development work available, in respect of both functional development and search-engine-optimisation (SEO) work.
