The Good Website Company is looking for a freelance web developer to work on an exciting, ultra sophisticated upcoming website.
We will only consider the following essential criteria. Please do not apply if you do not tick one or more points:
1. Your occupation is a full time (Mon-Fri) freelance web developer.
2. You have at least 2 years experience of freelance web developing and preferably have worked full time within a busy agency beforehand.
3. You work in or within easy access to London or Guildford, Surrey, or in between, (for potential meetings).
4. You are English speaking and be able to discuss work, via email/phone/in person, in a clear manner that is understandable to non-developers, as if you were writing/talking to a client.
5. You are contactable by phone, email and online chat (MSN Live, Skype etc) during normal working hours.
6. You are able to quote on a per project basis if necessary.
7. You are able to follow precise instructions/specifications.
8. You are able to offer alternative technical suggestions/functionality if recommended.
9. You are willing to clearly spec out and propose for a project over email, sometimes before the project is a guaranteed deal.
10. You are able to recommend and discuss hosting server requirements.
11. You are reliable and able to organise workflow effectively and hit realistic deadlines.
12. You must understand and be immersed in the latest website trends such as blogs, social networking etc.
13. You will be able to provide support for websites that you have developed, including discussing and proposing future developments and importantly fixing technical problems that may arise, with urgent problems being corrected as an upmost priority.
14. You are friendly and easy to work with.
15. You can provide a CV, email or online portfolio displaying all the projects you have developed with details to describe each one.
16. You can discuss our upcoming website immediately with the availability to schedule it in between December and March.
17. You are proficient at the following:
• PHP programming
• Database design & build
• MySQL with MySQLi extension
• SQL Server
• .htaccess URL rewriting
• Bespoke CMS architecture incl. Integrating rich text editors (FCK or TinyMCE etc), navigation management etc)
• XHTML
• CSS
• JavaScript jQuery/Prototype functions
• Developing front-end website functions for managing in a CMS such as news/event widgets, blogs, forums, member areas etc)
• Developing shopping systems and using API’s to integrate with payment processing companies (including PayPal integrations)
• Linux and Windows platforms
• Web programming security and cross-site scripting prevention
• SSH and FTP usage
Other notes:
• Occasionally meetings will be necessary with us / us and a client.
• There is no requirement to work in our studio.
