Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the website: The page is the weather page at http://www.maypoleairfield.com/current-weather-1/
Kind of development: Customization of existing website
Num. of web pages/modules: One
Description of every page/module: The main weather page at www.maypoleairfield.com uses Flash to display a variety of information based upon the old tools from www.weather-display.com. Many browsers do not handle Flash and I want the page to be amended to show the same information but not use Flash. I think this can be done using new tools such as steelseries (http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?PHPSESSID=c6ab1506f9d2309f5eb44d16d8193a6b&topic=17598.0) and html5. However, I am happy to use any approach and technology which shows the information and does not use Flash.
Description of requirements/features: The new page must echo the existing page and show the same dynamic information. If possible, the wind direction indicator should also indicate the runway direction. The new page must link with the weather data, uploaded every few seconds from the weather station PC. The colours, layout and style of the page must be as close as possible to the existing information.
Specific technologies required: xml, html5, wordpress, weatherdisplay, flash
Extra notes: The maypoleairfield.com site runs on Wordpress and calls var pathToWdlconfig = "http://www.maypoleairfield.com/weather/wdlconfig.xml" to run the weather page dynamic information.
