Description
Experience Level: Expert
General information for the website: Various
Description of requirements/features: Hello,
We are a London based digital marketing agency looking for support in a project.
For some of our clients we want to be able to create dynamically served version of the their site (but on a different URL). This is so we can add our own tracking codes etc so we can better measure the success of the campaign we are running for clients without having to change the client sites code.
We have been speaking with a few guys about this and have copied where we are up to now below. If that all makes sense to you and you think you can help with the implementation please get in touch
Research:
After a little discussion, the conclusion for a Unix based infrastructure should be an Rsync solution (this will make sense to tech staff):
If you have linux/unix servers and have SSH access for both of them you can use rsync to sync modified files/directories from one server to another. For example:
rsync -a ~/dir1 username@remote_host:destination_directory
See: http://www.tecmint.com/rsync-local-remote-file-synchronization-commands/
This can be make periodic with cron
Thanks,
John
