Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
There is a very specific brief for this, so bear with me:
* Make a video using a mobile phone, in portrait (vertical) format, in a documentary style - telling a true story.
* It will be a minimum length of 3 minutes but a maximum of 5 minutes.
* It must centre on a specific person and them telling the story of how someone was kind to them or how they experienced a moment of kindness
* The video may typically include a full-face interview with the person who experienced that act of kindness, cut aways of the person, atmospheric shots, background music.
* The aim of the video is to tell an emotional story and to create an emotional experience for the viewer.
* The video should feel as "cinematic" as possible (e.g. using focus and zoom and panning effects and atmospheric music - use your best efforts to get good, intimate sound e.g. using clip-on mic). Imagine it is being watched in a proper cinema with lots of people - but it's on a mobile phone in portrait format. The sound/speech is actually VERY VERY important and needs to be the highest quality ("intimacy") you can get.
* The exact act of kindness need not be dramatic or heroic or exceptional - it could be quite everyday - but the emotional impact on the person who experienced the act of kindness should be the heart of the story. It can be a family member if you are currently self-isolating, for example.
* The budget is designed for a project which might take a day - from finding the right candidate, to setup and interviewing them and support shots, then editing. So don't make it too complex - simple is good.
I wish to use the video (I will commission more than one) to establish a format against which I can make lots more videos so that I can create an online platform just for videos about kindness, to make people feel better. I will try to charge money (a few p each) to view them. You will need to certify that you have permission from the people and music used in your video that it may be used for commercial purposes - so do make sure your interviewee is OK with that.
