Description
Experience Level: Expert
I’ve got a potential job – but with a client who (like most these days) has a pitiful budget! So you must feel free to decline quoting if you’re busy or it’s not ‘your thing’.
They want to produce a 3 D animation of a stretch of coastline near Lydd in the UK where they’re doing some sea defence work. The stretch of coastline that they’re working on is prone to storms that wash away the shingle and expose a man-made clay bank which is several miles long. The area of land behind the bank is an MoD firing range and is lower than the high-tide water level, so if the sea breaches the clay bank (as it almost did in 2019), then a vast area of land called The Romney Marshes, as well as the MoD firing range would flood.
The animation will need to illustrate the coastline, the clay bank, the fact that the land behind is lower behind the bank, it’ll need to show a breach in the bank and water flooding through, plus a zoom out to show the large area of land that will be flooded.
A separate scene will show the shingle in front of the clay wall moving and being washed down the beach.
Another scene will show wooden groynes being added to the coastline and the shingle being held in place.
There doesn’t need to be amazing detail in the animation, it’s more to show the general movement of the water and shingle and to get some camera movement into it.
I’ve done a Google Earth screen grab that’ll hopefully show the area and give you an idea of the clay bank etc - see attached. I've also attached a map showing the area that could be flooded - marked in light blue.
The animation to show the beach, heights, water breaching and shingle movement will need to be created as CGI. You can then zoom up from this, through CGI clouds and mix to a google earth satellite view to illustrate the area that would flood.... mixing in the flooded area in opaque blue.
I’m guessing the total length of all the animation scenes will need to be about 20 seconds long to illustrate what’s being said.
If you're interested, please provide a cost, plus examples of similar work. I'm interested to understand the quality and detail of the animation that you'll be offering for the price you quote. The project has to be complete by 20th August 2021.
I haven't listed a budget for this project, as I need to see quotes and proposals before commissioning
