Help with my podcast editing

I'm a little stuck. I am using Garageband to edit a podcast. I bought some royalty free tunes but when I add the audio file it is super sped up and sounds a little scrambled. I tried another file and got the same thing. The file plays fine on other platforms and even played fine on someone elses Garageband! Might you be open to a tutorial session with me to help me figure it out?
