Description
Hey friends,
I’m looking for a skilled video editor who can help me bring my vision for Forged Man of Iron to life. My channel is all about helping people get out of pain, rebuild their strength, and bulletproof their body. The content blends storytelling, training footage, personal recovery experiences, and teaching moments.
I need someone who’s not just great at cutting footage but who understands how to keep viewers engaged through pacing, storytelling, text pops, b-roll, and dynamic editing. If you’re the kind of person who naturally thinks about audience retention graphs, hover previews, and thumbnail/title synergy, you’ll fit right in.
This is an exciting role to grow with the channel, and I’m looking for someone long-term who can become a creative partner, not just a hired hand.
Responsibilities
• Edit weekly YouTube videos (mix of storytelling, training, education, and personal vlogs).
• Apply frameworks like HIVES (Hook, Intro, Value, End Screen) to maximize retention and engagement.
• Add b-roll, text, graphics, and sound design to elevate storytelling.
• Collaborate with me on scripting flow and matching visuals to the message.
• Cut down content into short-form clips (YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok).
• Maintain consistency in style while also experimenting to push creative boundaries.
• Upload final drafts to Google Drive and prep for YouTube (title cards, transitions, captions).
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)
• Experience editing fitness, documentary-style, or story-driven YouTube videos.
• Understanding of YouTube analytics and retention curves.
• Graphic design or thumbnail creation skills.
• Interest in health & fitness, mindset, and personal development.
• Ability to suggest b-roll ideas or even source stock footage/music when needed.
What I’m Looking For
• Communication - You speak fluent English, respond promptly, and are comfortable talking over the phone or on video calls.
• Reliable - You can consistently deliver edits on time.
• Creative -You think beyond cuts and transitions; you know how to tell a story.
• Vision-Aligned - You resonate with the mission of helping people get out of pain and regain their strength.
• Collaborative - You can share ideas, take feedback, and collaborate openly to improve the videos.
•
Compensation
Competitive and based on experience. We can work per-video at first and move toward a more consistent monthly retainer as the channel grows.
Trial Task
As part of the application, I may ask you to edit a short trial clip to see your editing style and creativity in action.
How to Apply
Send me:
1. A short cover letter sharing why you’d be a good fit.
2. Links to your best editing work (especially YouTube content).
3. Your expected rate (per video or per month).
Include the phrase "Forged in Fire" as your cover letter title to be considered...

Hey Seth,
Kindly address some of concerns regarding the project so that I can deliver something exactly like you are looking for:
- What’s your long-term vision for Forged Man of Iron — do you see it evolving more into personal storytelling, training tutorials, or documentary-style content?
- Are there any specific YouTube creators or editing styles you admire that you’d like your channel’s content to be aligned with?
- You mentioned HIVES (Hook, Intro, Value, End Screen) — which part do you feel needs the most improvement right now in your videos: the hook, the flow, or audience retention?
- Do you have a preferred pacing style (fast cuts, cinematic, conversational, etc.), or do you want me to experiment and propose what works best for retention?
- What’s your current biggest challenge in keeping viewers engaged — is it drop-offs early in the video, low click-through rate, or overall watch time?
- Would you be open to me analyzing retention graphs and giving you insights on where viewers are dropping off so we can improve future edits?
- Since you want a long-term creative partner — what would a successful collaboration look like to you one year from now?
Thank You! -

Hi Seth,
Quick question: what’s the typical expected length of the finished YouTube videos (e.g. 8–10 minutes, 15–20 minutes, etc.)? That’ll help me give you the most accurate rate and turnaround time.
Looking forward to your reply!Seth D.19 Aug 2025Hi, great question. The video's will vary in length 10-15min will probably be most common although there may be some 20min or more.
