Description
Experience Level: Expert
I run The Noisy Immigrant, a channel covering politics, history and power. I’m looking for an editor for a presenter-led YouTube documentary about how colonial authorities justified violence, dispossession and mass suffering.
The film covers five historical cases: Spanish conquest, Ireland, the Banda Islands, the Pequot massacre and the Bengal famine. Expected finished length is around 28–32 minutes.
The script is complete and recordings are uploaded. The Google Drive handover is organised into an intro, five chapters and a conclusion, with source guides and visual asset references for each section.
There are 424 short recording takes, including retakes—not 424 finished clips. Selecting takes and building a coherent narration edit is part of the job.
What I need:
• Assemble the narration and shape the pacing.
• Add authentic archival images, documents, maps and relevant footage.
• Create clear chapter cards, quotation highlights and source labels.
• Clean up dialogue, balance sound and music, and colour-correct the footage.
• Deliver the finished video, checked subtitles and editable project files.
The style should be direct, thoughtful and engaging. The evidence needs room to breathe. Historical accuracy matters, including dates, translations and the context of archival material. No AI-generated historical imagery.
Source and visual links are supplied, but media still needs acquiring. Please identify any paid assets before purchasing and maintain a clear credits list.
Please send:
• Two relevant documentary or video-essay examples.
• Your fixed-price quote and estimated turnaround.
• Your editing software and number of revision rounds included.
• Any additional costs or exclusions.
I use DaVinci Resolve, so delivery in Resolve would be helpful.
Budget: US$300. I’m looking for a clean, engaging edit using presenter footage, archival stills, documents and simple chapter cards. The script, recordings and source links are organised. No custom animation is required.
Please quote for the complete edit, including one consolidated revision round, and specify what you need me to prepare beforehand. Any paid assets must be agreed separately before purchase.

Could you share the organised Drive handover so I can assess the recordings and confirm turnaround/project-file workflow accurately?
