Job description for long term video editor
Background:
Hello, my name is Bao, and I am just starting up my Youtube channel. Here’s the link to my Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@baothebijin
I am based in Singapore and am still mostly exploring what kind of videos I want to make, but for now I want to target some difficult issues that I’ve encountered in my personal life that I believe many others face, but are not really talked about openly.
My vision for my channel is to create a real yet entertaining (humour has to be incorporated in the videos) space for people who are also seeking advice for issues they find difficult to talk about or ask.
I love filming videos; however, I am finding it harder and harder to make time to edit my videos, resulting in many weeks of not posting despite having already filmed the videos. My goal is to post 1 long form video (minimum 10 minutes) and 2 Youtube shorts (60s videos) per week.
Your responsibilities:
1 video and 2 shorts to be edited every week (if you are unable to do so, please let me know what you are able to do and we can work something out).
I will provide the videos and you will find the relevant uncopyrighted B-rolls(I will also give you access to videos I have from my vlogging days that can be used for B-rolls) from internet as needed. If you feel it will be important to have a certain type of B-roll(i.e. it needs to have me in it), then let me know and I will see if I have it or if I am able to film it for you, if not I am absolutely ok with using off the net uncopyrighted B-rolls. Motion graphics/memes and sound/dramatic effects are also welcome to keep audience entertained and have something to watch instead of my face just rambling on.
You will remove any background noise as necessary, cut out my pauses, my ‘so…”s, my “um”s and any other filler words that don’t add value to the video, add in an uncopyrighted background music(and send me the link for credits for me to add into description box of video) and adjust lighting as needed. Also, you will add in text effects at the start of points and also to emphasize important points. Shorts all require subtitles at the lower end of the video.
What I am expecting the schedule to be like: I will send you my raw footage by Saturday every week, and you will work on them the following week, at your own schedule. We will do a weekly check in on Wednesday to check in on progress(you will show me your progress on your video editor via share screen) and if you require anything from my side, and you will send me all edited videos by Friday 2359 SGT(Singapore time) in the video editor format(preferably Davinci Resolve, but other video editors are welcome too), where I can do the final cuts as needed through the weekend, and I will schedule them to be uploaded for the next/following week.
Salary:
If you believe you are able to bring value to the channel, let me know what your expected rate per hour or per video/short is and we can work something out.
Trial task:
There will be a trial task if you are shortlisted, where you will edit the first 3 minutes of my video that I will share with you via Google Drive. Please include the hook and the introduction and what you feel are needed in the first 3 minutes of a Youtube video to grab viewers’ attention. You will be reimbursed with a token for your time, unless it is edited very minimally without effort.
Cover letter:
Please send me a cover letter with your experience, qualifications and why you are a great fit. By the way, if you have read this far, please include the word “lemonypie” as the first thing in your cover letter to let me know you are serious in taking up this long-term work with me.
The Ideal Applicant
• You’re keen on working together for at least 1 year. I’m looking for someone who wants to play the long-game.
• You believe in my vision as much as I do and want to provide value to our audience.
• You’ve got some interest in personal growth(especially in relationships) that sort of thing. I am still figuring things out as I go, but lots of our content will be based around this main topic, so having an existing interest in them will make things much more fun.
• You also watch a lot of entertaining videos and know when to add in sound/dramatic effects to get a laugh when the video content gets too heavy.
• You're good at figuring stuff out. You're willing and able to learn new skills by using Google and YouTube, and don't shy away from responsibility.
