Description
Experience Level: Expert
I’m looking for a talented video editor to join me on my YouTube channel, Expedition Red, where I explore Native American history, legends, and mysterious locations across the American West. My videos are cinematic, story-driven, and fast-paced, blending narration, hiking footage, and artifact discovery with a strong sense of atmosphere.
I aim to grow my channel as fast and as large as possible. My channel is only 5 months old, and I am already monetized.
My main goal is to see a drastic improvement from my editing skills to yours! So be sure to use artistic freedom and your professional skills. Do not copy my editing style, use that as a baseline and build from there.
Our videos are typically faster paced so cut quickly, don't let one visual linger for longer than 5 seconds. Unless it is the main focus or one of the main focuses of the video. (Like the mine shaft). In that case, please use your creativity and experience for the best outcome.
It's important to use as much b-roll as possible (NOT STOCK FOOTAGE). Make sure you always take time looking for the best b-roll clips that perfectly outline exactly what's being said in the video. I like to mix stills with mini videos, around 50/50.
Spend 50% of your effort focused on the HOOK of the video. More graphics, sound effects, etc... Anything to really build curiosity and HOOK the viewer in those first few seconds.
What I need:
Editing of long-form videos (~17 minutes each on average) and occasional shorts (~1 minute)
Full editing package: pacing, sound design, transitions, captions, color grading, effects, and music integration
Creative input to enhance storytelling and keep viewers engaged
Fast turnaround (ideally 7 days or less per video)
Someone who understands YouTube pacing, retention, and storytelling
Budget:
$90–$130 per long-form video (depending on complexity)
Shorts negotiable, usually $15–$30 each
Ongoing collaboration preferred (2-4 videos per month minimum)
Ideal Skills:
Strong portfolio of YouTube-style edits (cinematic + engaging)
Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or DaVinci Resolve
Great sense of pacing and storytelling
Ability to work independently while also taking feedback
If this sounds like a good fit, please share examples of your work (YouTube-style projects preferred).
Please watch the videos below to get an idea of our preferred content style. The better you can adopt & improve upon these style examples the better! I am open to improvement ideas as well:
