Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: Ongoing
I am working with a 400-seat venue in London's West End to create a curated on-demand video/podcast web platform of comedy and music performances they host. It's a busy venue, regularly featuring the biggest international names.
The brief is full-service, from creating the website to the providing of content (i.e. filming & audio recording) to everyday administration and maintenance. I have a small project team - consisting largely of the venue's technical staff - and we're looking for a film-maker to take ownership of the video side of things. We're very much about technical excellence and exploring new ideas rather than 'that'll do', and we’re after someone who can make films to a world-class standard, shares our ideals and will bring interesting and unusual ideas with them. We'd love, for instance, to inject some freshness into the concept rather than just have the traditional multi-angle camera show. If we can give our output an identifiable, consistent artistic look and style, then all the better. We have Sony 4K cameras, so feel free to supply any gear, but it’s not expected. However we do need a post-production wizard who has all the software and equipment they need to produce outstanding work.
The person we’re looking for needs to be able to work very much on their own initiative. None of us are video experts, so we need someone full of ideas and enthusiasm to lead the charge. An interest in music and/or comedy is probably a good thing, but at the same time, coming to this as a film-maker with no preconceptions about how these things usually look could be good too.
We also have two smaller (80-seat) venues in Bloomsbury, so there's plenty of scope for the right person to make their mark. All our filming is currently outsourced to third parties, so this work would also fall under the remit of whoever joins us.
Lastly, while not a precondition, it’s probably best if you live in London – this is very much on an ad-hoc basis, and assuming it works out it'd be great to have someone join us for impromptu chats & the odd beer.
