Description
Experience Level: Expert
Client: BMI Music Licensing
Overview: Develop one 2- to 3-minute animated video
Objective: Explain why businesses that play music publicly need a BMI license. Also explain the value and benefits music brings to businesses.
Requirements: Develop one concept with 6-8 design frames. The concept should be as if there were no voiceover - so we need the script to appear as typography/text on-screen, as well as a mix of iconography and characters/scenes.
Style: Sophisticated, elegant, clean, crisp. No specific colors / fonts. Use colors more as accent colors (no vibrant/colorful/busy backgrounds). Also, no yellows or oranges, or keep use very minimal. Characters should be incorporated when there's references to brick and mortar establishments, or where it might make sense to create a realistic scene. Characters should be sophisticated and not cartoony - maybe they don't even have many facial features. When there's not characters, we should use iconography. They also want to see creative typography throughout (creative with use of font size/colors to call out key words/messages).

Other Notes: Even though this video informs the viewers about why they need a music license and should use BMI, they want a big theme to be the power and beauty of music and why everyone loves music (they open and close the video talking about the greatness of music). It's almost as if the logistics/legal requirements of getting a music license comes off as secondary -- the video should not come off as instructional/dry.
One of BMI's selling points is their extensive catalogue of music (from top stars to little-known artists), so we do want to showcase that.
Budget: $1250
Timeline: Need to present designs to the client ASAP, ideally next Monday or Tuesday. Final video due week of 12/11.
