Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 1 - 2 weeks
I need a 30-45 second promotional video for our news app called newsAnglr. newsAnglr reads, analyses, compares and groups millions of news stories from thousands of online news sources. Stories are grouped into topics and ranked according to their importance (the more sources write about a story, the more important it gets). This gives you an overview of the most important news topics for each news category.
We don't want a typical voiceover-explaining-what-the-app-does kind of video, but rather tell a playful, funny story of how the app could be used in a real-world situation.
Style:
2D flat animated style like https://vimeo.com/113143462 or https://vimeo.com/125787195
Scenario:
We start with 3 people talking in a social situation (at a water cooler, coffee machine at work, at a bar...). They are talking about common subjects like cars, smartphones, the weather... in the form of pictographs in speech bubbles above their heads (like The Sims, but without talking gibberish).
Suddenly person A starts to talk about sports. Person B joins the conversation, but person C starts to panic because he knows nothing about sports. C desperately tries to steer the conversation in a different direction by suggesting random new subjects (random pictographs). He gets ignored by A and B, who continue to talk about sports (visualised in pictographs of course).
C then gets an idea: he opens up the newsAnglr app and adds the "sports" category to his selected interests. He quickly swipes through the soccer category, reading topics and articles. He then returns to the conversation and says something sports-related. A and B pause their conversation and look at C [perhaps the music in the background stops. It has to seem like C said something stupid and A and B stop talking because of it. In reality though, they are amazed at C's new found knowledge about a subject he knew nothing about earlier ;)].
After a short, awkward pause, they all smile and return talking about sports, but now C has enough general knowledge to join in on the conversation. The music continues and everything is fine :)
The animation should end with the newsAnglr logo and the tagline "A different angle on the news".
