Description
Experience Level: Expert
Hi,
We are a London based chocolate and Confectionery Company, specialising in supplying the higher end of the market such as department stores, speciality food shops etc. Our brand has been around since 2003 and maintained a high profile presence in some of the leading shops in the world but we re-launched the company in 2008 and since then had no web presence.
Since then we have decided to re-launch our web site, this time as a direct to consumer e-commerce offer. Our main goals are to increase overall sales by exploiting the web but also use the site as a “shop front” to generate awareness for our brand. Through PPH we engaged our web consultant and project manager who is helping us develop our current web site.
Therefore, we are now looking for an experienced and creative photographer(s) to help us take pictures of our products in a way that will help increase sales online. The shots will be a mix of lifestyle, product close-ups, and stock shots of products in groups or individual packaging. We don’t yet have a clear idea of how many of each shot we’ll have and would rather select a short list of photographers based on skills, experience, location, access to equipment and of course cost. Once we have a short list, we would then like to discuss ideas to come up with a good solution (i.e. the right mix of various types of shots etc)
In addition to the usual skills we would expect bidders to be experienced in various photo editing solutions in order to edit and deliver the end result in various formats suitable for our web site as well as social media pages and print catalogues, press releases (several of our customers request product photos for this purpose)
IMPORTANT NOTE: All licences and publishing right and copyrights of the photos will belong to us. We will pay only once for the work with the understanding that we are free to use/publish the photos as many times and in any format or media as we see fit.
About our Brand
Our brand is called Rita Farhi
Our speciality is to find traditional favourites such as chocolate covered nuts or marshmallows and pack them in contemporary, modern, eye catching packaging (Please note that this often means clear packaging i.e. very shiny and reflective surfaces which require considerable photography skills, good equipment or editing skills)
Traditionally our business has been very seasonal which suggests that buyers that list our products do so as Gifts items rather than everyday self-use purchases.
Our current position, at least from a Department store Buyer point of view is that of a mid-level attractive price local brand that’s a little bit different to what’s readily available in the market.
Our customers include:
Harrods and Selfridges, Debenhams : Year round range, supplemented by seasonal specialities, catering for both the tourist trade as well as local fans (of the stores not necessarily our brand)
John Lewis: Seasonal and Marshmallows
TK Maxx: Seasonal
Speciality stores like Villandry
About the Product Mix: (We already have some stock photos that we will be able to use but please use the list below as a worst case guide to the amount of work involved) you can see some of our products on our face book (not all shots here have been professionally taken)
We have the following main product categories:
Chocolate Covered Fruits and Nuts: 4-5 different packaging styles and about 8-10 products (so for example we pack chocolate covered almonds in 4 different styles
Savoury and Caramelised Nuts: A smaller range compared to chocolate nuts. Some packaging styles overlap but also some other alternatives
Traditional Sweets: Gobstoppers, Rhubarb and Custard, Rosy Apples, Jelly Beans and many others in a variety of gift packaging
Turkish Delights: Currently 6 flavours in one style pf packaging (up for renewal)
Marshmallows: 12-15 flavours, in two packaging styles with a few seasonal options thrown in
CHocotelegram: Chocolate messages put together chocolate letter blocks. We have about 10-12 standard messages but will probably build a catalogue of new ones in the coming months
Foiled Chocolate Balls: A series of 8 colours, 3 sizes and 6 packaging options. We offer customers the flexibility to choose their own combinations (within reason)
Seasonal Specialities: This range changes continuously throughout the year based on Xmas, Easter, Valentines and Halloween specials. Current project will focus on Xmas 2011 which has 12-15 products
New Products: We constantly upgrade our range and like any other business would prefer to work with proven partners so for the successful bidder this project is likely to lead to additional work throughout the year.
Ideally we prefer to work on fixed costs. This could be fixed based on per shot (taken, edited and delivered) or per shot taken and separately edited (giving us more flexibility to choose which ones we would like to have edited) or for the entire project once we decide the parameters. We prefer local photographers that could either come to us with their equipment or are close enough for us to go to with range of products.
Timing wise we need the photos taken ideally in the first to second weeks of July and delivered no later than the third week of July (though with some products there will be an element of flexibility depending on our launch dates)
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Though I am away on holiday until July 5th, I do check emails regularly and will aim to respond back to questions asap. Please don’t hesitate to send me a reminder if I have not come back to any queries within 48 hours.
Look forward to hear from you.
Many thanks and kind regards
