I'm looking for someone to create scripts to solve two problems:
Over the years I’ve copied all my dvds to my media server. When I copy them on to an iPad so my kids can watch them on a flight the files are huge. I’d like a script that goes through the directory tree of my movies and copies them to a mirror directory but converts each movie to a suitable size for iPad. I use linux boxes running Ubuntu or other debian derived distributions eg Raspbian. I use mp4 and like the ffmpeg encoder - it seems to make smaller files of better quality than handbrake. Unless you know better those would be the preference. (You can see some good videos about ffmpeg a third of the way down this page. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/whats-the-best-format-resolution-for-movies-on-ipad-pro-10-5inch.2093125/)
Secondly, I copied some of the dvds as iso files. Some my hardware fails to play the isos for some reason so I’d like a script that finds the iso files and if there’s no corresponding mp4 converts it at high quality for the big screen. The iPad conversion script above would then pick it up for conversion to iPad size.
Please let me know if that's something you could help with.
