Design Brief
The Task
• To design 6 monsters, an owl, a witch and ghosts using vector graphics

• To design the accessory for each monster as listed below

• To design a logo for the name ‘Monster Phonics’

• It is essential that the designs appeal to children.

• The ability to animate the designs (very simply) would be desirable though not essential. We have included an action for each character below.


THE MONSTERS

Angry Red Monster
Furry and round
Angry but friendly looking
Action – jumps up and down, making angry noises, saying ‘Ay, ay, ay?’
Accessory – alien spaceship


Slimy Green Frog Monster
Oversized fat frog
Action – long tongue (normally hidden) stretches out as though to catch a fly
Accessory – teapot house

Yellow Eye Monster
Smooth round yellow eye-ball on legs
Action – eye blinks
Accessory – lighthouse that the Yellow Eye Monster can jump on top of and turn into a flashing light

Miss Oh-No
Pink smooth, round
Large beautiful lips
Has a bandage around her head that looks like a flick of hair – this covers one eye, so only the other eye can be seen. The eye has long lashes.
Action – Miss Oh No’s mouth makes an ‘o’ shape, she puts her hand to her mouth and says ‘Oh no, oh no!’ as though she has bumped into something.
Accessory – big pink doughnut house

U-Hoo Monster
Purple, can be smooth or shaggy or furry
2 very long arms that he needs to wave to catch attention.
Action – waving arms, calling ‘You hoo, you hoo!’
Accessory – universe cloud or solar ring

Cool Blue DJ Monster
Blue, smooth, wears sunglasses and headphones
Action – smiles and slowly says ’Cool’

Brown Owl
Very cute brown owl – 2 shades of brown
Large green eyes, yellow beak
Action – slight flap of the wings ‘wow’
Accessory – brown house

Tricky Witchy
Cute witch girl on a broomstick
Action – waves her wand from which sparkles fly
Accessory - wand

Spooky Ghosts
Simple cute ghosts of the white sheet variety
