Description
Experience Level: Expert
I'm a structural engineer working in France for English speaking clients. The document to be translated accompanies the drawings to used by a builder to carry out structural work on a building.
The text to be translated is in a plain text file. I use Latex to create the finished document, but the file can easily be loaded into a word processor such as Microsoft Word or LibreOffice Writer to add the translations. The translations are generally done sentence by sentence with the French translations following the English text; both the French and English texts are enclosed in curly brackets. I have marked where the text to be translated is to be added with two asterisks (**). Latex uses commands staring with a backslash, ignore these unless they are within text to be translated in which case include them in the translation. This should all become apparent when you look at the file.
I have attached the text file and the pdf files produced by Latex from the text file. If you're familiar with Latex I can include the preamble to enable you to compile the file, otherwise I can create the pdfs for you if it would help with the translation.
While my client needs the translation as soon as possible accuracy is more important. The translation will be professionally proof read and I would not expect the proof reader to find many mistakes.
CERT 5 and higher freelancers please. I have left the budget at the price recommended by pph although this does look too low to me and expect the fee to be higher; there are about 3400 words to translate.
Please include your usual fee structure in your proposal, this will be useful for future translations.
Kind regards,
Tim
