2. We then require the functionality of the plugin itself to be pulled out from the original plugin, so we can update it from within the Wordpress admin ourselves.

What has the plugin been set up to do that has ACF embedded? ACF on its own might not be capable of replicating the original functions.

Can you share wp-admin access?
I think i need to access to admin dashboard and change custom plugin.
I need to check that plugin and upgrade according to idea.
