Web Design – Responsive Text Columns

I have a single page responsive web design but have hit a wall and need help.

At its full width, the site has three columns of text, like a newspaper or magazine. As the screen size reduces – ie. on tablet and smartphone – this changes to two columns and then one column. What I need is for the columns to dynamically resize and the height to increase so that they contain *ALL* of the text.

That's a little hard to explain, so I attach an example.

I can supply the work-in-progress code or show you online. Likely there will be a couple of other minor tweaks too, but this is the main one.
