Web design for Intranet use

I am looking to create a website that will be primarily used by employees as a portal for access point to different external apps. We need a home landing page, secure log in to a landing page where they will access interface points to different external apps. Additionally, there is a small database of information contained that i need an interface for retrieving information from, as well as a small document library. Users will primarily be working from iPads. This project could be expanded as we go, we are looking to just get started!
