Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: More than 3-6 months
Please read this job description thoroughly to understand the role.
We are a Web Development agency focusing on remote work and we are looking for a remote, UK based Project Manager to join our tight-knit team spread out all over the country. You'll be managing multiple, concurrent, web based projects, but this is not a developer position, you will mostly be managing developers.
You will be paid an hourly rate and will have ownership over your projects, we expect you to be able to manage the client and the developers without significant management oversight. Though we will help and support you with areas that may not be familiar to you at first. You will be managing developers whose first language is likely not to be English and you should be a clear communicator. A project should take up 0.5 - 1 day a week and as we get more projects you'll be able to undertake up to a maximum of 4-5 concurrent projects. Your time will be capped at 33% of total development time per month, we expect you to manage your time and the developer’s time to meet this requirement.
You must be strong in the following areas:
- Project management and experience managing developers.
- Understanding of communication tools such as Slack, and though we don’t use them, familiarity with project management tools such as Trello would be beneficial.
- Strong English communication skills and a willingness to talk over the phone.
- Attention to detail when writing specifications based on client requirements.
- Experienced managing WordPress & Shopify website projects.
Please start your application with "I have definitely read the whole project description" in order to be considered.
Your role in a typical project will look like this:
- Be introduced to existing client or onboard new client.
- Ensure development & project management processes are set up correctly.
- Receive requests from client via our project management software. Communication may be required via Slack or phone call.
- Work with client to clarify any points and pass this to developers.
- Manage progress with developers.
- Ensure time is tracked and updates are progressed through our project management software for client visibility.
- Quality check developer work and manage feedback process with client.
- Responsibility for confirming movement of changes to live environment and accuracy of end product.
- Maintain ongoing relationship with client and developers.
You'll have very technical engineers working with you, so it's more important that you understand the principles behind the technologies we use, rather than experience actually using them. You will be considered a freelancer and therefore self-employed. There is no guarantee of repeatable or long term work.
If you're interested please put forward an application.
