SQL Database to generate BOM for given part number

We are looking to create an SQL database that will output a number of items based upon a part number that is configured as part of the system, i.e. a number of selectable items will ultimately become more and more limited based upon previous selections.

The database will output a number of pieces of data as follows: -

Component part numbers required to build said top level part number
Quantity of these components
Cost of these components
Description against said top level part number

Following this output we are then looking to ensure we have sufficient stock available of each of the components. This could be carried out via a live search of our MS GP system or could be a query of a 'standardised' list of components.

Ultimately we will require the system to be integrated into an eCommerce site which dependent upon stock quantities will present to the user potential manufacturing costs and lead times associated with the top level part number.

We have compiled the list of components into a searchable excel database, and written the logic statements associated with the part number structure and how these relate to the component database. However these logic statements are only written, not coded.
