Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 1 - 2 weeks
General information for the website: Invision Power Board Forum
Kind of development: Customization of existing website
Description of requirements/features: This is a project which is coming to the end of completion shortly, and this will be the last phase.
The contractor must be confident in working with HTML and CSS, and some PHP if required. Most of the work will involving editing the appearance of the website. It is important that the worker knows what is expected of him, and any challenges are raise before working.
The freelancer should also be able to work to deadlines but not compromise the quality of the work with quick turn around.
Level of English should be moderate-high. Strong proficiency in HTML/CSS
The website you will be working on is: http://goo.gl/iZkMDG
Below are the list of duties you'll be required to carry out if you are employed.
Navbar – the grey navbar across the top of the website.
• Hyperlinks to be added to menus texts on all drop downs
• The Media dropdown is incomplete, it is to be hidden for the moment, but it should easily be made available again with minimal effort.
• Academia & Research. In the RSS scrolling post area, here the font is to be changed to the global page front, link colour to be changed to the global CSS, and bottom logo to be deleted completely.
o Also for this drop down menu, the links for categories are to be added from the WordPress website, and hyperlinked correctly.
• Community. Popular discussion and latest discussions to be coded into navbar as RSS in same way as other tab. Scrolling feature, the correct CSS is to be used.
• Explore Psychology – links to be entered in
• Hover pop-up menu to view when logged in, as previously removed for member’s area.
• Once the navbar is complete, it needs to be updated across this theme entirely, and other Pyschtheme.
Index
• Welcome header to be removed via the ‘X’ as per user decision, but then not shown again unless unhidden by ‘X’ on all pages. This is should be the case with any new header placed here.
• Facebook and Google logins to work correctly.
Main Board
• (The design of the sidebar should be the same as is currently the case):
• Recent topics to be expanded into the other, more detailed view.
• Add latest posts sidebar block
• Sidebar to be made available during forum and thread views.
Psych-theme (change the theme from the menu on the left at the bottom of the page)
• Address same issues as above for navbar
• Make sure the popular community posts and blog posts are updating correctly with correct entries.
• Redesign the pop-up to show the default blocks by IPB in it.
• Introduce sidebar for forum/thread view
Extra notes: Most of the work required in this job is HTML and CSS based, so strong proficiency in these skills are essential.
I've also tried to list all the possible duties required there may be a few small CSS edits required.
Finally, I don't think the tasks in themselves are challenging, but rather, as you can see, there's quite a few things to get done. Deadlines are flexible.
