The Map
The objective is to build an interactive map to illustrate the rich historical, ecological and geographical diversity of a specific Region.
The map will allow the user to mouse through the region (as if cruising through the river) clicking on points of interest such as Islands.
I am looking for a freelancer to match base charts licensed to me by Canadian Hydrographics services (ENC. S-57 Chart) to the appropriate software. The software should allow me to create internal links that provide the user with the option to further explore historical information, photos or video. For example, you could mouse over an Island, a note would pop up as you mouse over the Island indicating the name of the Island plus some other preliminary information, and additionally there would be an internal link to a "historical facts" page
Our office will be responsible for providing, and implementing content once the process is established.
The map should contain a color coded layer representing the fish species by location.
I will put you in contact with the appropriate office at the CHS, and with there input your first objective will be to match the digital map to the appropriate software that will allow us to fulfill the objectives specified above.. Some software recommended by the CHS would be ESRI (ArcGis software), Adobe has an add-on to import S-57 maps and FME technologies. Global mapper was another consideration.
Of course there will be other web development/design aspects of the map that will require your services. For example,
-The map should have a link (button) that immediately takes the user to the western boarder of the map, as well as a link the immediately takes them to the eastern boarder of the map.
-There should be a search box for key words. Once a key word or phrase is entered into the search box, a list of internal links should appear representing that subject matter. The user will be able to choose from those links and be directed to that specific area of the map.
A Geography page-
A conservation page-
Authors/Artists page
The business Directory
(Photographs and script will be provided.)
The web based version of the map should also be formatted for IOS operating systems.
The web site
-Index page
-The index page will describe the product and how to use the map.
-Offer the client access to the digital version of the map in exchange for $20. (pay pal)
-ecommerce page (access to the map)
Customers who purchase the hard copy of the map point of purchase while visiting the region (On a printed plastic card with scratch variable pin numbers on the back) will be able to access the digital version of the map through entry of the code into the specified box. The web site should recognize these codes and grant the customer access. All clients inputting a code must also provide there name, (address and phone # optional) and email address for eventual up sale offerings. Due to the nature of my client base, this feature is important.
The following links at the top of the index page
-An “About us page”
-“Contributors page”
(Annotations and references to regional businesses, and other organizations that are providing content to the map.)
-“1000 Islands directory page”
(This will be directory of all our customers, retailers and tourist destinations. There business information, coupons and directions will be added to this page)
-A FAQ page
-Contact us page
