Description
We're building an education tool for students approaching a major professional exam. The web app supports their revision through practice questions, revision guides and the tools around them, so they can work through material, see where they went wrong, and understand which areas need more of their attention.
We produce all the content ourselves and hand it to the app as JSON, so a good part of the work is taking that in cleanly and presenting it well. You wouldn't be writing any of it.
The website is a simple front door. One main page explaining the product, a section holding the guides and resources, and the sign-up and login route into the app.
The stack we have in mind
Next.js with the App Router, TypeScript, Tailwind and PostgreSQL. Zod for validating the content we feed in, Stripe for payments and Auth.js for accounts. We're open to a conversation about any of it.
How we'd work
In phases, agreed one at a time, rather than settling one number for the whole thing up front. We don't expect you to be able to give us a quote at this stage, and we'd want to talk properly before anyone put a figure on anything.
What we'd like to see
Examples of your work, more than anything else. Please share a number of things you have personally built, ideally live so we can go and use them. That is what we will be judging on.
Alongside those, let us know what your availability looks like over the next few months.

Hi Toby,
A few questions to narrow down the scope:
1. Do you already have a defined JSON schema for questions and revision guides, or would establishing and documenting that structure be part of the first phase?
2. How do you currently envisage tracking student performance — for example by individual question, topic/category, attempts and overall progress?
3. Is the professional exam preparation intended to use a single subscription/product, or do you expect multiple plans, courses or content packages through Stripe later?
Looking forward to your reply! -

-/ How should practice sessions work: topic-based questions, full mock exams, timed tests, or a combination?
-/ After answering incorrectly, should students immediately see the correct answer and explanation, or only after completing a session?
-/ How do you want progress and weak areas presented i.e. topic scores, performance history, recommendations on what to revise next, or something more detailed?
-/ How are you planning to monetize the platform? Will students pay through a monthly/yearly subscription, one-time package, or individual content purchases? Will there be a free trial or free tier, and what features/content should be available to free vs paid users? -

Hi, are you open to Laravel Framework - I am core team member for GegoK12 and we already have built question bank and quiz modules.

Could you please share more details about the first development phase and the expected start date?
