Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We are looking for an experienced asp/asp.net programmer to help us out with a troublesome site. A previous programmer made the decision to code the site entirely in classic .asp and it is causing widespread problems and instability.
A brief description of the site:
The established site in question runs on Windows hosting and pulls items from a large (30,000 plus items) SQL database and delivers them to the site visitor.
The programmer hired to complete the job ran 15 months overdue on a quoted completion time of 6 weeks, therefore we need to recruit someone else for maintenance and updates. The site is fully functional in respect to sales and orders, but there are aspects we’d like to alter and tweak. We appreciate that it’s never easy to pick apart someone else’s coding; please message us on here to be given examples of the previous programmers coding.
Your Role
Correct the worst errors
Ongoing maintenance and updates where needed
You would not be expected to do much in the way of the basic web design tasks, such as layouts, graphic design and css; our web projects manager would be handling the majority of that.
Please apply only if:
You code to given industry standards.
You have a firm grasp of how to code with an eye on SEO.
You are prepared to comment your code in a legible fashion and use a sensible naming convention.
You can commit the time required to complete these tasks.
You are courteous and plain speaking; the owners of the business have had more than enough of smoke and mirrors.
You have examples in your portfolio that show the same, or similar, tasks completed.
We ask that all applicants have access to Skype, as you will be interviewed via it.
We will only consider applicants who take the time to make suggestions as to how the site can be improved; Go through the site, test different aspects. How would you have done things differently with respect to gains in revenue and the user experience?
