Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the website: Business Directory
Kind of development: Customization of existing website
Description of requirements/features: To amend the functionality of the search facility within a business directory installed on a DotNetNuke website environment. Please find full job description and screen shots/images in attached documents.
How the search facility currently works:
The search facility currently works by utilising a search module (which can be placed on any number of pages) that allows the user to type in their desired location (town, city or county) and then click a search button.
They are then redirected to a homepage for that chosen location and given the options of selecting a category, and defining a search radius. Upon clicking search button on this page, they are then redirected to a search result page.
The search result page contains brief details of businesses that fall under the chosen category within the defined search radius of the location. On this page the user also has the ability to filter by subcategories, update their search criteria and click on links to the individual advert pages of the businesses listed on the page.
How we would like the search facility to work:
In a nutshell, we would like to take the homepage for the location out of the equation, and also include the category and radius options in the search module in the form of tick boxes for the categories and a dropdown list for the search radius. This way the search module would then redirect the user directly to the search result page using the chosen search criteria.
Additional Info:
The website is based on a responsive skin and has a separate search module that only appears on mobile phones in portrait and landscape view and tablets in portrait view only.
Extra notes: Developer must have experience in ASP.NET and DotNetNuke.
