1. Project Overview

We require a robust, secure, and scalable AWS hosting environment for a Joomla CMS (5.x) with Fabrik extension. The platform will serve up to 200 concurrent logged-in users who will actively complete and submit forms. The solution must ensure high availability, strong performance, and compliance with best practices for data security.

2. Scope of Work

The provider is expected to design, provision, configure, and hand over a production-ready AWS environment, including documentation and knowledge transfer.

2.1 Core Infrastructure

Load Balancing & Auto Scaling

Application Load Balancer (ALB)

Auto Scaling Group with EC2 instances (Amazon Linux 2023, Nginx + PHP-FPM 8.2, OPcache, APCu)

Application Layer

Joomla CMS with Fabrik extension deployed and tested

Stateless configuration (Redis for sessions, S3 for media, minimal shared EFS)

Database Layer

Amazon Aurora MySQL (MySQL 8) – Multi-AZ

RDS Proxy for connection pooling

Session & Cache

Amazon ElastiCache for Redis

Storage

Amazon EFS (shared dirs only if required)

Amazon S3 + CloudFront for static/media content delivery

Email

Amazon SES configured with SPF, DKIM, and DMARC

2.2 Security

AWS WAF on ALB/CloudFront with managed and custom rules

Shield Standard

IAM role-based access, no direct SSH (SSM Session Manager)

Secrets Manager/Parameter Store for DB and application secrets

Security Groups and least-privilege policies

2.3 Monitoring & Operations

CloudWatch monitoring, alarms, and logs

AWS Backup for Aurora, EFS, and S3 versioning

EventBridge/SSM for scheduled Joomla/Fabrik cron tasks

CI/CD (CodePipeline/CodeDeploy or equivalent) for zero-downtime deployments

3. Deliverables

Fully provisioned AWS environment meeting above requirements

Deployment of Joomla + Fabrik (client will supply codebase)

Documentation (system diagram, credentials handover, operations guide)

Knowledge transfer session (for internal technical staff)

4. Support & Maintenance

Please provide quotes for the following:

Initial Build & Handover (one-off setup cost)

Ongoing Support Options

3 months managed support (monitoring, patching, security updates, troubleshooting)

12 months managed support (same scope, priced separately)

Support should cover:

Proactive monitoring and alerting

Security patching and updates for EC2/PHP/Joomla stack

Backup verification and restore testing

Incident response (SLA to be defined in your quote)

General assistance with AWS scaling, tuning, and troubleshooting

5. Non-Functional Requirements

System must handle at least 200 concurrent authenticated users reliably

Environment must be scalable to handle growth

GDPR-compliant hosting (AWS EU-West region, preferably Dublin)

Uptime SLA (please specify in your quote)

6. Response Requirements

Your response should include:

Technical approach (confirmation of architecture, any recommended adjustments)

Pricing (one-off setup, 3-month support, 12-month support)

SLAs (uptime, support response times)

References/case studies if available

7. Timeline

Project kickoff: 1st Oct 2025

Launch: 5th January 2026
