Description
I am looking to commission a dynamic website for a Scottish clan that allows users to easily sign up for membership and receive news of upcoming events. The site should showcase our clan's rich history and culture through curated pages covering notable clan figures from the past, significant moments and places of importance to tell our story. Members should be able to easily explore a database of photographs, timelines and narratives that bring our heritage to life. The administration area of the site needs to empower approved editors to independently contribute new content such as biographies, local landmarks and recreational happenings so that engaging material is continuously added by our volunteers. Visitor engagement is vital, thus a prominent sign-up form enabling effortless capture of member details for effective outreach must be prioritised. With an interface that exemplifies our clan's pride and tradition, optimized for mobile as well as desktop, this site will serve to unite our global kin and preserve our legacy for generations to come. Expert crafting of compelling pages, intuitive backend controls and skilled database integration will see this portal proudly representing our clan for years to come.
we will also later add a shop etc., but will just link to suppliers for now.
Something on the lines of a slightly more modern https://www.clanmacleod.org/
please give an estimate of how long it should take you to build.

Hi Charles!
Content Management:
Which content management system (CMS), if any, do you prefer for managing biographies, images, and timelines — or are you open to recommendations for a custom or open-source solution like WordPress, Statamic, or a headless CMS?
Membership System & Outreach:
Do you envision a custom-built membership system, or would you prefer integrating with existing tools (e.g., Mailchimp, MemberPress, etc.) for sign-up, email campaigns, and member database management?
Content Contribution & Roles:
What level of control would volunteer editors need — for example, should submissions go through an approval workflow, or can trusted users publish content directly? Would you like different permission levels (e.g., contributor, editor, admin)?
Thank you.Charles B.05 Jul 2025Im out of date on CMS and membership systems. We are hoping for upto 10000 members but will only email out once a month if that. so i will go with whatever anyone suggests.
Zachary L.06 Jul 2025Hi Charles! Totally understand — things move fast in the CMS space. For your use case (up to 10,000 members and minimal email), something like Webflow with Memberstack, WordPress with Paid Memberships Pro, or a custom Laravel setup could all work well, depending on how much flexibility you want. I’m happy to recommend the best fit once I know a bit more about your content, paywall needs, and how you want the member experience to feel.
