General information for the business: Social Data Tracker
Description of requirements/functionality: We need a simple data tracker.
Requirements are:
At present we have a page like this > http://datify.co.uk/fbgraph/submit.php which if you add a Facebook page id it puts that into the database. The data (company name, number of likes, description, URL) are added in to the database each night as a new row, meaning that we can see how many likes a Facebook page had yesterday, the day before, today, etc etc.
I will attached a screenshot of how this data looks for your reference.
What I'd like to do is re-build this (it currently doesn't work as FB changed their API a bit), and add more in.
So what I'd like is a page like http://datify.co.uk/fbgraph/submit.php but where you can add in Facebook Page Id, Twitter Handle, or YouTube URL.
Whichever you add will go into a relevant table (YouTube, Twitter, or Facebook). These three tables will list the profiles we're tracking.
The tool will then pull the number of Twitter followers, Facebook fans, and Youtube subscribers and views into their own tables. So in total we'll have 6 tables:
- Twitter accounts tracked
- Facebook pages tracked
- YouTube channels tracked
- Twitter followers
- Facebook likes
- YouTube views & subscribes
This needs to be sustainable (i.e. not kill the server), and be able to run through potentially thousands of pages/accounts/channels every day. APIs probably the best way, but keen to see how you suggest doing it.
This data is just to go into MySql for now for querying, but we'll have a separate task for user interface on this later.
As you'll see on the screenshot, the Facebook pages also track engagement rate for the day as a calculation as it takes 'talking about this number' - please advise on how best we may be able to do this.
Thanks,
