Search page with Secure PHP code with mysql and other data sources (xml, text file)

Description of every page/module: search page should contain a search box and background image (full page).
results page should display list of searches conducted and confirmation for each search a result e.g. not data found or data found.

2. Results/report page. (basic text output).
Description of requirements/features: 1. search page needs to accept text input for various kinds of information, for example;

a) email address
b) ip address
c) domain name
d) username
e) name or id
f) other (this could be any combination of letters, numbers and special characters for performing a regex type of lookup).

IMPORTANT: The script should check the data entered for security exploits because the text could be anything, I need advice on the best approach for the security for these types of data. maybe some sort of dynamic search option to select type of data and prevent search until formatting is met? and run appropriate sanitisation on input data.

The search text will then be passed to backend where it will search various kinds of data (mysql, xml, text files, via API with third parties). when the results are returned, the script should indicate if anything was found (like a basic report). I do not need the backend scripts created, please create some test scripts to search for random text files to generate output results, check to prevent common attacks, and return to the results page (e.g data found for script 1, data found for script 2 etc).

the search page will be using a image for background.

2. Results page - a second page for the results should be used. I do not require anything for this page other than to display if anything was found using basic text; e.g

date found for script 3
end of report.

Extra notes: mxtools has page very similar to what i want, i only need result (e.g. green tick or red cross) and list (this is the first two columns on the mxtools website.
