Description
Experience Level: Entry
I'm looking to scrape data from the Racing Post website relating to UK and Irish horse racing ratings.
I want a program which I can run each day, which would automatically scrape horse data from a small number of races each day according to set criteria (I have a flowchart which sets this out in more detail which I can share). The program would produce an excel or Google Sheets file for me to read each day.
As well as the program, I would like the source code to go with the program.
The essential skill for this work is knowledge and experience of coding/programming (probably in Python or R). The desirable skill is a basic understanding and interest in horse racing.
When I post projects, I receive lots of spam replies that don't read my proposal. Therefore, if you want me to engage, in your response *please name on flat racing racecourse in the UK or Ireland*. This will demonstrate you've engaged with the idea (1) and have a basic understanding of UK/Irish horse racing (2).
It's for an amateur project/hobby to better interpret ratings provide by the Racing Post for horses, and to then test out some ideas for betting purposes. As an amateur/hobby project, the budget is low.
Ideally, it's somebody who is interested in the work and would therefore want to keep in touch to bounce ideas around. I have a lot of knowledge of horse racing, but zero knowledge of coding.
Feel free to get in touch if you're interested and I'll happily share more information.
