Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 1 - 6 months
FAT promotions is one of the leading web design and development agencies in the South East and we require an additional PHP Web Developer to join our freelance team, working remotely from your own base within the UK.
The role involves creating bespoke online solutions for web, ecommerce and database systems for our global portfolio of clients, working alongside other members of our existing freelance team. This will involve your input on initial project specification to generate solutions and planning the best approach, coding custom solutions within CakePHP, assisting with high-end technical support and database issues, managing our own dedicated servers to ensure maximum performance and maintaining high standards by following company processes for quality assurance within set timeframes and deadlines for delivery.
Core Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Creating bespoke PHP MySQL database solutions for member access, collaborative working and secure systems
• Creating sites and online systems from the ground up using our own bespoke CMS, WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, CakePHP or similar
• Create interactions and effects for websites including parallax, Javascript and Bootstrap / other libraries
• Ensure full responsive coding for all sites produced and ensure most appropriate display for tablets, smartphones and desktop
• Collaboration with other team members via Zoom, phone and Slack while working on projects
• Regular monitoring of client servers to ensure speed and uptime
Required skills and abilities:
• PHP, MySQL, CSS and JavaScript experience
• MVC framework experience, preferably CakePHP
• Working knowledge of responsive frameworks like Bootstrap
• Experience working with git repositories
• Excellent communication skills (whether via Zoom, telephone or email)
• Solid understanding of web standards and accessibility
• Experience administering / managing hosting environments (preferably using Plesk)
• Linux command line experience would be an advantage
PLEASE NOTE: although working from your own home or office (using your own equipment and stable internet connection), you MUST be physically based within the UK due to data protection implications of some of our projects.
Initially offering 3 days / 20 hours per week, working during office hours (9am to 5pm BST) so you can actively collaborate with the rest of the remote team; this role effectively gives you a regular income which you can then top up with your own freelance work to your heart's content - so a nice steady income and plenty of interesting work to do with an expert team all working remotely in the UK. This will involve a daily check-in with your Project Manager and teammates via Slack, twice weekly Zoom meeting, plus access to online project management tools and intranet to communicate throughout the day with other team members as collaborative working is essential.
This role would really suit an experienced, established, talented freelancer looking to add some regular retainer hours to their working week. We're really looking for a long term, ongoing relationship with a great developer with an eye for clean code which works first time and delivers high quality results.
Contract length: 3-6 months, 20 hours per week
Job Type: Contract
Benefits:
• Flexible schedule
• Work from home
