Description
Experience Level: Expert
We developed a very simple panoramic image viewer, starting from an opensource project.
Basically it\'s a sphere rendered in OpenGL, with the panoramic image sliced into small pieces and used as texture in the inside face of the sphere.
We used QT OpenGL paint engine and QT classes for loading and slicing the image.
After this, we ported the app to Android platform. So OpenGL code has been already adapted to be run on OpenGL-ES 1.0
Now, we need to port the app to an OMAP4430 board, that uses PowerVR SGX540 graphic chipset. Main goals of this project are:
- porting the code to PowerVR SDK (quite easy to learn and well documented)
- using OpenGL VBOs instead of Vertex Pointers
- using an image library (libjpeg or similar) for texture loading and splicing
- using PVRTC for texture compression
We aren\'t very skilled in OpenGL development (so development phases described before took us long time). Now we are busy on other activities, so we decided to outsource the work.
We think 2-3 days are enough for these goals. However the deadline will be fixed a couple of week after project start.
