Description
Experience Level: Entry
General information for the website: Digital Signage
Description of requirements/features: Need a HTML form to edit an RSS feed which is read by media players.
Just two fields title and description. Form should display Title field with an editable Description field next to it.
Form is populated from a RSS.xml file. Contents are then edited and on submission are saved back to the original RSS.xml file.
Form would need a submit and a reset (reload current file) buttons.
If we can customise the form layout to mimic the on-screen layout that would be a bonus.
Extra notes: I have a RSS.xml file which holds text data for multiple media players to display. I can edit entries in the file in a text editor and save the results and the media players all pick up the changes.
I'd like to put a pretty front-end on this process and I think a simple HTML page with a form would do the job.
So I'm looking for someone to write a bit of code to pull the entries from the RSS.xml file into a web form, let us make changes to the values in the form and then export those changes back out to the original RSS.xml file. That simple.
The .xml file is currently hosted on a local WAMP server but if the solution is done with code which is standalone that would be fine. The system currently consists of media players and a Windows 7 PC on their own private network.
I've attached a sample names.xml file. This is the structure the media players look for and which can't be changed. It's a standard RSS feed.
This is a proof-of-concept test for us and if successful there could be future developments and customisations to the solution.
