Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the website: We Provide Online Music Lessons
Kind of development: New website from scratch
Num. of web pages/modules: 20
Description of requirements/features: We are an online music learning website. The website aims to offer pre-recorded lessons for musical instruments such as the violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet and guitar.
We have been working for over 2 years to develop content for the website and we are now ready to get a platform launched. We have been working with a team of 32 people, including 12 course leaders and composers, to develop each course as well as the website look and feel [the entire website portfolio has been designed according to latest bootstrap requirements in flat design]. To date, we have recorded in the region of 800 videos and have published various books of original sheet music. I have placed some examples of the website in this email as well as our company profile.
We have a waiting list of users ready to pay for the website launch. We have also ascertained affiliations with large independent music charities including foundations set up by particularly famous individuals. Alongside this, I am pleased to say that we have got celebrity backing for specific courses, to act as the course ambassador. More recently, links have been setup so that students on our courses can now have the potential of receiving a certified qualification [recognised by Ofqual] for their progress.
PHP DEVELOPER INFORMATION
The PHP developer should have the following skills and background for the phase 1 development of the website. This is listed below:
• 2 years experience of using a PHP framework [Codeignitor, Laravel or other...]
• PHP, HTML, CSS and Javascript development and debugging
• Good understanding of MVC design principles
• Ability to work with MySQL for database use
• Excellent understanding of CMS systems (the .SQL database will be available to view beforehand also)
• Good understanding of modern accessibility, the implementation of responsive designs
• Experience of test-driven development and continuous integration
• Awareness of best practice usability and the importance of user experience
• Excellent written and spoken English; good communicator
PHASE 1 DEVELOPMENT
The phase 1 development of the website sets out to offer the core services of the website. This will involve allowing students to log in, view the lessons, watch the videos, complete a short quiz and to download available lesson content [PDF, JPEG and MP3 files]. A list of features have been provided below:
Main Features
• Each lesson is also split into multiple videos separated into different concepts that are covered in the lesson for ease of use when learning
• Sort lessons (difficulty, A-Z, course order, etc…)
• Each lesson has a badge attached to it. Students earn a badge when they have completed that lesson AND its quiz
• Each lesson is organised into ‘completed, incomplete or not started’.
• Search site (with icons linked to different categories of search results)
• Account pages
• Login page and registration page
• Feedback form
• FAQ section
• Admin panel in the backend to upload all dynamic content
Some Possible Extra Features:
• Each user has their own profile to show the lessons that have been completed with a date stamp of when they were completed. Their profile shows their picture, their name, the most recent lesson completed, the number of badges awarded and when they joined as a member.
• Sightreading section: a link to a daily changing PDF document to download a new piece.
• Recommendations to continue last lesson or start next lesson also given, based on previous user activity.
• Facebook login and registration
EXAMPLE PORTFOLIO

WHAT WILL YOU GET?

SUMMARY
This is an amazing opportunity to work as a freelancer. There is a huge level of potential and we are looking for an individual who shares our passion and will want to develop this project into a ready-to-earn platform. We have vast plans for development and further phases, far outside the scope of offering solely music lessons. Time will be needed to achieve the phase 1 requirements of the project and we are looking for a developer that can provide that. This will be an excellent piece of work to display for your portfolio, especially with the extremely large organisations that we are affiliated with.
Extra services needed: Hosting, Customization, 3rd party integration, Security
Extra notes: DEVELOPER MUST BE BASE IN THE UK
