Description
Experience Level: Expert
General information for the business: Design company that host many client accounts through cPanel/WHM.
Description of requirements/functionality: We are having issues whereby emails sent through our server are being blocked. We need a long-term solution so that our IP does not get black-listed. Please can someone advise on this, and perform necessary actions & tasks to unblock our IP address accordingly.
Example bounce message is below:
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
suechern@hotmail.com
host mx1.hotmail.com [207.46.8.199]
SMTP error from remote mail server after MAIL FROM: SIZE=2343:
550 SC-001 (BAY004-MC6F16) Unfortunately, messages from 109.169.61.112 weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list. You can also refer your provider to http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx#errors.
Extra notes: The exact cause for being black-listed is difficult to diagnose. We have about 30 cPanels hosted on our server, of which only a handful actually use our server for sending mail (most use Google Apps for Business). However a few users forward all of their mail to another email address - so one potential cause is that spam messages would also be forwarded, which would indicate that the server is sending spam messages.
