Description

Dear community,
I am after the following:
- An executable application under Windows platform
- That when executed, looks upon a textfile ("url.txt") which first and only text line will contain an url
- Gets the html code for that url and and saves it on another textfile ("html.txt"). Any existing text on that file should be overwriten
- The resulting html text NEEDS to be the same content as one would get when getting the source code through the web browser
Background:
- I am trying to get some data from a website into excel using VBA
- Using VBA "XMLHTTP" function or the Internet.Explorer object would not work as the downloaded html lacks part of the web info which - I guess - are only downloaded in the browser after running some scripts embedded in the webpage. As a result, the html code I get through VBA lacks much of the info I am after
- I have now spend too much time trying to find a solution in VBA myself. The plan is for my VBA code to call this new application and then read the resulting textfile to get the html code into the vba script where I can process it as required
Please kindly let me know,
1. If you foresee any drawbacks or problems by tackling the problem this way
2. How much would you charge to produce the above (I imagine this should be very straightforward for somebody who knows what to do)
3. When could I get it
I will share the target website details once we have an agreement.
I will only pay once the product is demonstrated to work.
If the job works well there might be more programming you can help with.
Best,
Luis
